Ivan Aguilar
International mobility manager, Renault Group
What is your role?
I can sum it up in 3 main points:
I am responsible for setting and implementing international mobility policies as well as for the implementation of related processes.
I run, support and train the international mobility network to encourage teamwork and to align the group’s strategies.
Lastly, I benchmark our international mobility policy’s competitiveness and coordinate relations with international service providers.
What do you like the most about your job?
I like the fact that international mobility is constantly changing; it is related to geopolitics, which means that I never get bored as the impact of events has to be assessed and changes made to our policies in consequence, it comes down to being an agent for change.
I also like being able to speak in different languages with my contacts around the world.
What is your hidden talent?
I know a few phrases in several languages, which (sometimes) helps me “break the ice” when meeting people of other nationalities for the first time.
Otherwise, I have been doing CrossFit for a few years, if you are looking for an all-round sport, give it a try!
What advice would you give young people?
Surround yourself with people who bring you something positive, follow your passion, and above all learn Spanish (just kidding), or any other language that you are passionate about, go on Erasmus, an international internship or an exchange program to get out of your comfort zone.
Are there any skills that you have developed through your involvement in the Cercle Magellan?
I am always learning, notably thanks to the forum, where members of the community help each other out.
The communication and friendliness that permeate the working groups in which I participate also contribute greatly to cooperation and creativity between members from companies of various sizes.
