Further drop in AGIRC-ARRCO yield, 2024/11/26

The revaluation of Agirc-Arrco supplementary pensions, announced by a circular dated October 16, 2024, provides for a 1.6% increase in pensions for private sector employees as of November 1, 2024. This is good news for retirees, while the National Interprofessional Agreement (ANI) of 2023 had initially provided for a revaluation of 1.4%. The Agirc-Arrco board of directors has chosen to apply a supplement, bringing the increase to 1.6%. This decision, motivated by an in-depth analysis of the scheme's finances, represents a cost of 1.6 billion euros over a full year, entirely financed by the scheme.

What we have heard less about is the purchase value of the point, which will increase by 2.83% on January 1, 2025. In other words, workers will earn fewer points in 2025 than in 2024, for the same salary. This is not the first time this has happened! Thus, in 10 years, the value of the point has increased by 13.15%, while the purchase cost of the point has increased by 28.66%! This is not abnormal, since life expectancy is increasing. We just need to be aware of the drop in Agirc-Arrco yield, which will penalize those who finance the system: workers!
