3 questions for Cécile Blondel
Global Total Rewards and International Mobility Senior Manager, Salomon
What is your background?
It's been about 10 years since I started working in total rewards management. After obtaining a master's degree in human resources, I worked for 6-7 years in a company in Paris in the catering industry, where I implemented a policy on executive pay.
I also had several roles, talent, international mobility, general HR. And then I went to the north, to a tech company where I again implemented a compensation policy and had a role in international mobility.
I spent three years in Berlin where I worked for startups, where the objective was really to implement a "from scratch" compensation policy, so we mapped the roles, we really looked at the foundations.
And for the past two months, I have been working for Salomon in Annecy.
What motivates you the most in this profession?
It's this link between business strategy, financial strategy and human resources strategy, since what I like about the compensation policy is that we're at the heart of figures and people, in inverted commas, we translate between standard human resources and at the same time I know how to communicate with finance and what's important for me is to understand a company's long-term strategy, and that allows us to set up more useful tools for both company and employee.
That's what interests me most.
What are your main challenges?
It would be flexibility of the means of work, so since Covid, we can work anywhere and so that’s had some effect on compensation policies, we think more internationally about how to pay fairly within the same group with people around the world, so I think this is an issue that's come up quite recently.
What is your hidden talent?
A hidden, and very recent talent, I'm training for a second career, in case this one doesn’t work out. As a mixologist, developing my cocktail skills.
