3 questions for Juliette Gourmelon

Head of Talent Management, Allianz France

What is your background?

My background is rather unusual because I originally trained as a translator from English and Spanish, so I worked for about ten years in translation. Then, ten years ago, I joined Allianz, where I worked for a few years in different roles, including six years in diversity, inclusion and employer branding.
And I have been in talent management for just over a year.

What motivates you the most in this profession?

So, it may not be very original, but I find it exciting to support the development of our talents’ potential with career paths that also meet the needs of the company, which means understanding company strategy and that they adjust to societal changes, requiring you to really keep up with developments and trends, emerging trends in society.

What are your main challenges?

The issue I'm thinking of is one that we are going to have participants think about on our next flagship talent development program. It's the sustainability of leaders and their teams. It's a rather protean issue because it encompasses a wide range of concepts such as time and stress management, work-life balance, the impact of a leader's management style on their teams, but also authenticity, vulnerability, diversity and even AI, since it's going to become more important in the way we work.

What is your hidden talent?

So “talent” is a big word, but I'll say running, which I've been doing for several years. I recently ran the legendary Paris-Versailles race and soon the Parisienne, which I run every year.
